Morning:
After a hearty breakfast at your hotel, our representative will meet you around 9–10 AM and escort you to our Namaste Nepal Trekking office. Here, you will submit your passport and passport-sized photographs for the Tibet permit and visa application process.

After breakfast, head to our office to collect your passport and flight ticket. Our team will guide you through the details, ensuring all documents are in order. This is also the time to have a brief meeting with your tour guide or trip coordinator, where we will go over the schedule, share important travel tips, and answer any last-minute questions.

Afternoon – Packing & Last-Minute Shopping
Return to your hotel to pack for tomorrow’s flight. Make sure your gear, warm clothing, snacks, and personal essentials are ready. If you need any trekking items, you can easily purchase or rent them from Thamel’s outdoor gear shops. You might also want to pick up small comforts like tea bags, energy bars, or basic medicines for the road ahead.

Evening – Rest & Mental Preparation

Today, your journey to Tibet truly begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to Lhasa Gonggar International Airport.
Morning – Departure for Tibet
Depending on your flight schedule, our staff will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport. The flight takes approximately 1 hour 20 minutes, offering a rare and breathtaking opportunity to witness the Himalayan giants from above, including the legendary Mount Everest (weather permitting).

Arrival in Lhasa – Welcome by Tibetan Guide
Upon landing at Lhasa Gonggar International Airport (3,656 m / 11,995 ft), you will be greeted by your friendly local Tibetan guide. After a warm welcome, enjoy a comfortable drive into the city, where we will check you into a 3-star hotel.

Afternoon & Evening – Rest & Acclimatization
As Lhasa sits at a significantly higher altitude than Kathmandu, today is mainly about rest and acclimatization. Drink plenty of water, move around at an easy pace, and allow your body to adjust to the thinner air. Standing majestically in the center of the city, Potala Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an architectural masterpiece. Originally built as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas, it is now a living museum containing:

A scenic 40–50 minute drive from Lhasa brings you to the Yerpa Drak Valley, a peaceful and picturesque site dotted with ancient meditation caves and hermitages. For centuries, Tibetan kings, monks, and yogis have retreated here for deep spiritual practice. The valley’s crisp mountain air, fluttering prayer flags, and hillside shrines create a truly meditative atmosphere.

Drepung Monastery – The Great Seat of Learning

After breakfast, we bid farewell to Lhasa and set out on an unforgettable journey through Tibet’s rugged beauty. Our first stop is Yamdrok Lake, a jewel of turquoise waters framed by snow-capped mountains. This sacred freshwater lake is revered by Tibetans, and its shimmering surface is perfect for breathtaking photographs.

We continue along the Friendship Highway toward the spectacular Karola Glacier, where an immense wall of ice cascades down the mountainside just meters from the road. This is one of Tibet’s most accessible glaciers and offers a surreal contrast between dazzling snow and rugged rock.

Next, we arrive in Gyantse, a town steeped in history and Tibetan charm. Here, we explore the Pelkhor Chode Monastery, renowned for its fusion of Tibetan, Nepali, and Han architectural styles. The highlight is the Kumbum Stupa, a multi-tiered structure containing 108 chapels adorned with vibrant murals and statues.

Our final leg of the day takes us to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. Upon arrival, we visit the grand Tashilhunpo Monastery, founded in 1447 by the 1st Dalai Lama. This monastery houses an enormous statue of the Maitreya Buddha and remains an important center of Tibetan Buddhism. We then check into our hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast in Shigatse, we begin the day with a short drive (about 10 minutes) to Tashilhunpo Monastery, founded in 1447 by the 1st Dalai Lama. As one of Tibet’s most important monasteries, it’s a living museum of history and devotion. Wander through sacred halls like the Chapel of Jampa, Coqen Hall, and the four Great Dratsangs, each filled with intricate murals, giant Buddha statues, and priceless artifacts.

Leaving Shigatse, we travel 2–3 hours to Sakya Monastery, the spiritual heart of the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism. With its striking Mongolian-influenced architecture and priceless Buddhist scriptures, this monastery is a center for deep spiritual study and meditation, led by high-ranking lamas and revered gurus.

Our journey then takes us to Rongbuk Monastery (5,009m), a peaceful yet awe-inspiring place nestled in the shadow of Mount Everest. This is the highest monastery in the world and serves as a spiritual gateway to the mountain. From here, it’s only a short drive to the Everest Base Camp (Tibet side), where you’ll stand in the presence of the mighty north face of Mount Everest — an unforgettable moment of your journey.

We return to Rongbuk for dinner and spend the night in a simple yet cozy guesthouse, surrounded by the silence and grandeur of the Himalayas.

We begin the day early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over Mount Everest from Rongbuk Monastery and the nearby Everest Base Camp. The morning light illuminating the world’s highest peak is a sight that will stay with you forever.
After soaking in these views, we set off for Old Tingri (about 2 hours’ drive). Once the county seat of Tingri before the administration moved to Shegar, this quiet town offers wide, sweeping vistas of four Himalayan giants — Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Makalu.

From Old Tingri, we continue our journey toward Paiku Lake, a pristine alpine lake at 4,592m, framed by rugged mountains. This peaceful stop is perfect for rest, photography, and appreciating the untouched beauty of Tibet’s highlands.
Our route then takes us to Saga (4,640m), a small but important settlement on the banks of the Brahmaputra River (Yarlung Tsangpo). As a key rest stop for travelers heading toward Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar, Saga offers basic comforts including guesthouses, restaurants, shops, ATMs, and medical facilities.
We check in to a local hotel and rest for the night, preparing for the next stage of our spiritual and scenic adventure.

After breakfast in Saga, we set out on one of the most scenic drives of the Kailash Mansarovar journey. The road takes us across the sweeping Tibetan Plateau, where vast grasslands meet rugged mountain ranges and gentle rivers weave through the landscape.

Our first major stop is Dzongba (4,450m), a quiet farming village offering a glimpse into the simple rural life of Tibetan locals. From here, the terrain gradually rises until we reach Paryang (4,550m), a place infused with spiritual energy and often bustling with pilgrims making their way to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar.

We then cross the Mayum La Pass (5,200m), a dramatic high-altitude gateway that offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Descending from the pass, the shimmering blue waters of Mansarovar Lake come into view — and with them, your first glimpse of Mount Kailash’s South Face.
Upon arrival, we begin a half circumambulation (Kora) of the sacred lake using a conservation vehicle, allowing time to appreciate its serene beauty and spiritual significance. We then settle into our guesthouse by the lakeshore, where the evening offers peaceful reflection under the star-filled Tibetan sky.

We begin the day early with a peaceful walk along the shores of Mansarovar Lake, watching the first light of sunrise illuminate its crystal-clear waters. Pilgrims may choose to perform prayers or meditation here, connecting deeply with the lake’s spiritual energy. While bathing directly in the lake is no longer allowed to preserve its sanctity, you can collect its holy water for a symbolic cleansing ritual on the shore.

After breakfast, we visit Chiu Gompa (Chiu Monastery), perched dramatically on a rocky hill near the lake. This revered monastery is said to be built around the meditation cave of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), one of the most important figures in Tibetan Buddhism. Inside, you can explore quiet prayer halls, admire traditional murals, and enjoy sweeping views of Mansarovar Lake and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

We then take a short, scenic drive to Darchen (4,575m), a small but busy settlement that serves as the starting point for the Mount Kailash Kora. After checking into your hotel or lodge, the rest of the day is free to prepare for the pilgrimage ahead.

День 14. Drive to Yamadwar and Kailash Kora Starts: Trek to Diraphuk (4765M)
Today’s Highlights:
• Short drive from Darchen to Yamadwar (“Gate of the God of Death”)

• Trek through stunning Himalayan landscapes to Diraphuk
• Witness both the South and North faces of Mount Kailash

After an early breakfast in Darchen, we set out for Yamadwar (“Yama’s Gate”), the symbolic entry point to the Mount Kailash Kora. This short drive (about 30 minutes) takes us to Tarboche, a spiritually significant site marked by colorful prayer flags and the small Yamadwar temple. For Hindu pilgrims, Yamadwar represents the gateway between the physical and spiritual worlds, where one leaves behind worldly attachments before beginning the sacred circuit.

From here, we begin the first day of the Kailash Kora, a 12–20 km trek depending on your pace and route. The trail offers striking views of the west face of Mount Kailash as we gradually gain elevation along the Lha Chu Valley. Surrounded by rugged cliffs and the sound of the glacial river, the walk is as much a spiritual experience as it is a physical one.

After 5–6 hours of trekking, we arrive at Diraphuk (4,765m), a small monastery settlement offering the most iconic view of the north face of Mount Kailash. If the weather is clear, you’ll be treated to an unforgettable sunset glow over the sacred peak.

We check into a basic guesthouse for the night, resting and preparing for tomorrow’s challenging but rewarding trek.

Traveler’s Note: This first day of the Kora is considered moderate but can be demanding due to the altitude. Walk at a steady pace, drink plenty of water, and keep in touch with your guide—especially if you’ve hired a horse or porter.

Today marks the most demanding yet spiritually powerful day of the Mount Kailash Kora. We begin early from Diraphuk, setting off on a steep ascent toward Dolma La Pass—the highest point of the pilgrimage at 5,660 meters (18,570 ft).
The climb is slow and steady over rocky paths and loose scree, with the thin air making every step a true test of endurance. As we approach the pass, colorful prayer flags fill the air, each carrying the prayers and aspirations of pilgrims from across the world. This is a deeply moving moment, both physically and spiritually, as you stand amidst the grandeur of the sacred mountain.

From the pass, we make a brief descent to the turquoise waters of Gauri Kund, revered in Hindu tradition as the lake where Goddess Parvati bathed. Known as the “Lake of Compassion,” its still waters reflect the surrounding peaks, creating a serene and meditative atmosphere. We pause here for quiet reflection before continuing.

The descent toward Zuthulphuk is long and challenging, following steep, rocky trails through a dramatic valley. By the time we arrive at this small settlement, fatigue will be replaced by a deep sense of accomplishment. Nearby lies the cave of Milarepa, one of Tibet’s most beloved saints, whose life story is a testament to transformation and enlightenment.

We settle into a simple guesthouse for the night, resting our bodies and preparing for the final stretch of the Kora tomorrow.

• This is the toughest day of the entire journey—pace yourself and stay hydrated.
• Dolma La Pass can be icy and slippery—use trekking poles and proper boots.
• Avoid lingering too long at the pass due to the thin air.
• Gauri Kund is sacred—please do not touch or pollute the water.

Our final morning on the Kora begins with a peaceful trek through riverside meadows, surrounded by the vast silence of the Tibetan plateau. Mount Kailash lingers in the distance, a majestic reminder of the sacred path we’ve just walked.
The trail leads us to the Mani Wall, an extraordinary stretch of hand-carved mani stones engraved with Buddhist prayers and mantras. Each stone is a testament to centuries of devotion, creating an atmosphere of quiet reverence.

After this short and easy section, we arrive near Darchen, marking the official completion of the Mount Kailash Kora. The sense of accomplishment is profound—few journeys combine such physical challenge with deep spiritual meaning.
From here, our vehicle awaits to take us on the long drive back to Saga, retracing roads that now feel different after the pilgrimage experience. As the vast landscapes roll by, memories of the last three days return vividly—every climb, every prayer flag, every breathtaking view etched into your heart.

Traveler’s Note:
Before leaving Darchen, you may want to pick up souvenirs as keepsakes of your sacred journey. Prayer flags, Tibetan singing bowls, Lord Shiva statues, and local handicrafts make meaningful mementos. Most shops accept only cash, so keep some local currency ready, and remember—bargaining is welcomed if done politely.

After completing the spiritually powerful Mount Kailash Kora, we begin our journey back toward Nepal. Departing from Paryang or Dzongba (depending on last night’s stay), we drive across the open expanse of the Tibetan plateau, where endless skies meet rugged mountains.

By midday, we arrive in Saga, the largest town in western Tibet, where we pause for lunch and a short rest. From here, the road gradually reveals a shift in landscape—from barren high-altitude terrain to valleys dotted with greenery.
En route, we stop for a 2-hour round-trip hike to the Milarepa Cave, a site deeply tied to Tibetan Buddhism. According to legend, this is where the revered saint Milarepa meditated and attained spiritual insight. The cave, adorned with prayer flags, sits in a peaceful spot with inspiring mountain views, offering a moment of reflection before continuing our journey.

As we drive onward, the scenery transforms dramatically.
• Lake Peiku Tso: Its deep blue waters mirror the towering Shishapangma range, making it one of Tibet’s most photogenic lakes.
• Himalayan Panorama: Snow-capped peaks rise ahead, their grandeur framed by drifting clouds.
• Forested Valleys: The air turns warmer and more humid as rivers wind through dense green forests—an almost surreal contrast to the stark plateau we’ve left behind.

With warm smiles and waves, they send you off for the next leg of your journey.

Once through border formalities, our Nepalese team welcomes you back. From here, we continue the drive along the Pasang Lhamu Highway, a route that winds through terraced hillsides, traditional villages, and river valleys, offering a taste of rural Nepal.

The drive to Kathmandu takes 5–7 hours, depending on road and traffic conditions. As we approach the city, the landscapes give way to bustling streets, colorful markets, and familiar Himalayan charm.

By evening, we arrive in Kathmandu, where you’ll check in to your comfortable hotel and enjoy a well-deserved rest after your epic pilgrimage.

Complete visa information to enter Nepal.

A visa for Nepal can be obtained on arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and at the border entry points in Kakadvitta, Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Gaddachowki on the Nepal-India border, and Kodari and Rashuwagadi on the Nepal-China border.

Outside of Nepal, A visa can also be obtained at the nearest Nepal Embassy or Diplomatic Mission.

To renew a Visa you can go to the Department of Immigration, Kalikasthan, and Kathmandu.

Fill in the ' Arrival Card'

Fill in the Online ' Tourist Visa ' form (you can fill it up prior to your arrival by visiting our official website Department of Immigration / fill it up using Kiosk machines upon your arrival at the airport). If you fill it out from the website, you will get a submission Receipt with a barcode, please print it out and bring it along for acquiring a visa. It works for fifteen days and becomes invalid then after. If so, you will have to fill it up again.

2nd Step

Make payment at the bank according to your visa requirement (15/30/90 Days)
