Today’s journey takes you to one of the most awe-inspiring points of your entire adventure—the base of the world’s highest mountain. Leaving the sacred city of Lhasa behind, you’ll traverse the sweeping expanse of the Tibetan Plateau, where the horizon seems endless and the air grows ever crisper. The road winds past the shimmering waters of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, across high passes, and through remote villages before gradually climbing into the Himalayan foothills.

After a long but unforgettable day on the road—about eight to nine hours—you’ll arrive at Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery on Earth at 5,100 meters. Here, framed by the stark beauty of the Tibetan landscape, the north face of Mount Everest rises in all its majesty, an unforgettable sight that will leave you breathless in more ways than one. Weather permitting, you’ll continue toward Everest Base Camp (North Side), where you can stand in the shadow of this legendary peak, feeling the immense scale and spirit of the Himalayas all around you.

As evening settles, you’ll return to a simple guesthouse near Rongbuk Monastery. The night sky here is a spectacle in itself, with millions of stars glittering above the silent mountains. It’s a moment to pause, reflect, and truly feel the privilege of standing at the roof of the world.

With the altitude at its highest point yet on your journey, remember to move slowly, drink plenty of water, and keep warm—the mountain air can be biting even in the middle of the day.
День 16. Drive from Rongbuk (5,100m) to Kerung (2,700m)
After waking to the crisp, high-altitude air of Rongbuk and perhaps stealing one last glimpse of Everest’s mighty north face, it’s time to begin the long descent from the heights of the Tibetan Plateau toward the Nepal border. The road carries you away from the shadow of the Himalayas, through wide stretches of open grasslands, winding passes, and quiet villages that seem unchanged for centuries.

As the day unfolds, the scenery transforms dramatically—barren, wind-swept highlands slowly give way to greener valleys and softer terrain. You’ll pass once more through Shegar, with fresh perspectives on landscapes you crossed earlier in the journey, each view framed differently by the shifting light. The air grows warmer, the colors more vibrant, and the presence of rushing rivers signals the approach to lower elevations.

After roughly seven to eight hours on the road, you’ll arrive in the small border town of Kerung (Gyirong), a peaceful settlement nestled at 2,700 meters. Here, the pace feels gentler, the climate milder, and the altitude far kinder to your breathing. You’ll check into a local guesthouse or hotel and take the evening to relax, repack, and prepare for tomorrow’s crossing back into Nepal.

The journey today is as much a farewell to Tibet as it is a gentle transition toward familiar ground—one last night under Tibetan skies before the landscapes, culture, and rhythm shift once again.

Today marks the beginning of the final chapter of your epic 23-day Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan adventure. After breakfast, our Namaste Nepal Trekking team will escort you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight to Paro. The journey takes just over an hour, but the views from your window are unforgettable—on a clear day, you’ll be treated to sweeping aerial panoramas of the world’s highest peaks, including the mighty Mount Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga, all rising above a sea of clouds.

Upon landing at Paro International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your Bhutanese guide, who will introduce you to the Kingdom’s serene landscapes and deeply rooted traditions. From here, a scenic one-hour drive winds through forested valleys and alongside the shimmering Pa Chhu River, leading you to Thimphu, Bhutan’s charming capital.

День 22. Day Hike to Taktsang Monastery / Tiger’s Nest Temple
No journey through Bhutan is truly complete without standing before the Taktsang Monastery, more famously known as the Tiger’s Nest. Perched dramatically on a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the Paro Valley, this sacred site is one of the most iconic and spiritually significant places in the country. After breakfast at your hotel, a short drive will take you to the trailhead, where your hike to the monastery begins.

Complete visa information to enter Nepal.

A visa for Nepal can be obtained on arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and at the border entry points in Kakadvitta, Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Gaddachowki on the Nepal-India border, and Kodari and Rashuwagadi on the Nepal-China border.

Outside of Nepal, A visa can also be obtained at the nearest Nepal Embassy or Diplomatic Mission.

To renew a Visa you can go to the Department of Immigration, Kalikasthan, and Kathmandu.

Fill in the ' Arrival Card'

Fill in the Online ' Tourist Visa ' form (you can fill it up prior to your arrival by visiting our official website Department of Immigration / fill it up using Kiosk machines upon your arrival at the airport). If you fill it out from the website, you will get a submission Receipt with a barcode, please print it out and bring it along for acquiring a visa. It works for fifteen days and becomes invalid then after. If so, you will have to fill it up again.
